We generally recommend quantitative research when our clients need statistically
significant, projectable data on a specific topic. We use SPSS, the premier
statistical software, for quantitative data analysis. The results are then
presented to our clients in PowerPoint format, accompanied by a clean data
file in Excel or other formats.
While we primarily use online surveys for quantitative
research, we also conduct telephone or mail surveys when appropriate. We are
affiliated with an excellent CATI (Computer-Aided Telephone Interviewing)
center, and we train and manage the callers closely.
We also combine methodologies when appropriate. Sometimes we use the telephone
to recruit low-incidence targets for online surveys. It even makes sense to
use all 3 methods at times. For example, we conducted a study to assess the
effectiveness of our client's printed marketing materials. Respondents were
initially surveyed over the telephone to measure unaided recall. The printed
materials were then mailed to them so they could complete a detailed online
survey. The ultimate result was a set of concrete recommendations to improve
the design and content of the materials.
